SHARED PLATES
Food has always been a mechanism for bringing people together, sharing conversations, community and culture.
This project is about combining my personal ceramics practice with my community engaged arts practice. Over the course of 6 weeks, I engaged with four different members of the Gold Coast community and invited myself into their homes and kitchens, where we shared a meal and conversation. In response to this exchange, I created a hand built ceramic plate, with the view to capture a key moment, story, memory or recipe - and through this exploration begin to understand more fully what it is that connects people with food and a sense of community.
